Virtual Reality-to feel…
Enjoy a fantastic panoramic view from a peak at Königstein in the Erzgebirge on a warm summer day. The visitor can look around in peace. He can feel the wind and the warming sun on his face. The scene feels so realistic that the viewer gets the impression of really standing on the lookout point at the Königstein. The deep immersive feeling of Take a Closer Look consists in the combination of computer graphics, virtual reality technology (HTC Vive) and the creation of haptic feedback. To intensify the experience and appeal to all senses, we have expanded the virtually built environment with haptic and sensoric elements, such as wind and heat, and with a simplified model replica of the viewing platform.
Gain knowledge in a playful way
Through the integration of a quest and knowledge game that allows the viewer to use a controller to scan and learn about native animals and plants, Take a Closer Look contains an additional interactive level of knowledge. The viewer’s attention is thereby guided from a more distance panoramic view to his close field of view and the haptic items in his environment. Objects from the application scene that are in the immediate vicinity of the viewer are displayed in a haptic way so that the user is able to see them through the VR glasses and feel them simultaneously with his hands. Take a Closer Look was developed in 2017/2018 in cooperation with the Vitruvius Hochschule Leipzig and is currently installed in the lab area of the LEAVR Innovation Space in Leipzig.
